June 11 2011 - Day One in New York City!

After a 20 minute long bus from the hotel ride we finally arrived in New York City! Once we arrived we picked up our tour guide Derrick, who tock us to Central Park, Harlem, Soho and Ground Zero. We spent a fun morning sight seeing and had lunch in Greenwich village. After we finished our lunch we headed to the Metropolitan Art Museum, where we spent our afternoon looking at interesting historical and modern art from all over the world.
Then we walked around 5th avenue and did some shopping. It was really cool to have some free time in NYC. Its amazing how many US flags and yellow taxis you can see as you are walking down the busy streets.

After all the shopping we went to have dinner at Sbarro. We were all exhausted until we found out that we were not only eating dinner but also entering a dance party. The waiter got us all fired up with loud music and instruments. After dinner we all got up and went crazy dancing around the tables and Fred was dancing on a chair. Everyone was laughing and having a great time. Now we were ready for a night in Time Square!

It really looked a lot more beautiful with all the lights turned on. People went shopping to M&M World, the Hard Rock Cafe, the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, Planet Hollywood and to American Eagle to put up a picture on its wide screen on Time Square. The sights, sound and everything was amazing. It was funny that there were more foreign people than Americans. In total it was an amazing day and we are all looking forward to tomorrow.
